Peggy Liu, 2012 Hillary Step Winner



The Hillary Step was given for the first time in 2012 to 2010 Laureate Peggy Liu, for her work on Climate Change Solutions and in particular to assist her "China Dream" Project.

Peggy Liu will be dedicating the Hillary Step award of NZD100,000 to JUCCCE’s work on creating sustainable consumerism in China through a mix of policy nudges and soft power. Dubbed “The China Dream” project, it architects a desirable and sustainable lifestyle for the 300 million growing to 800 million middle class consumers by 2025 in China.

Supporting Peggy at the London event on July 6th was Institute Chair David Caygill who addressed the Institute’s 2012-15 focus on Climate Equity, and Executive Director Mark Prain. A distinguished panel followed, provoking engagement from the floor, led by Solar Century Chair (2009 Hillary Laureate) Jeremy Leggett, Lord Nat Wei, Jullian Borra (Saatchi & Saatchi) and Mike Barry (Marks& Spencer). The event was chaired by IOD Director General (Hillary Governor UK), Simon Walker, and hosted by NZ High Commissioner, Derek Leask.
